Little-Known Facts about Dogs

Dogs know exactly how to please their humans and they WANT to please. They aren’t forced to please or threatened into pleasing. It’s a choice, and one
they make freely. Given the opportunity a dog will love you. The same can’t be said for humans. Maybe it’s because we don’t know as much about dogs as they know about us.

For example, did you know that dogs only have sweat glands between the pads on their paws? That’s right. And since dogs don’t sweat, their cooling systems don’t work like ours do.

Dogs are good at surviving even under the worst of circumstances. Three dogs survived the sinking of the Titanic — a Newfoundland, a Pomeranian, and a Pekingese. If there’s a problem, stick with the dog!

Did you know that a dog’s noseprints are as unique as a human’s fingerprints and can be used to accurately identify them? It’s true.

Dogs have no sense of “time.” If you leave them for five minutes, it’s just a stressful for them as it is if you leave them all day or even several days.

Did you know that male dogs and human men are the only animals that have prostates? Dogs don’t have an appendix, though. Bet you didn’t know that either.

A dog’s sense of smell is 100,000 times better than a human’s! They probably believe that all humans are smell-challenged. And dogs hear better than we do, too — 10 times better.

Yes, indeed! Dogs really are man’s (and woman’s) best friends. Maybe we should take the time to learn a little more about them.
